Gigantic boost for ice sports

An exciting new chapter in winter sports opened this week with the announcement that a National Ice Sports Centre is to be established in Melbourne.

The two-rink complex, funded jointly by the Victorian State Government and real estate developer ING, will be situated in Melbourne’s Docklands area adjacent to Harbour Town shopping centre and the Southern Star Observation Wheel.

Cooper wins VicSport Governor’s award

Jacqui Cooper has been honoured by VicSport, awarded the Victorian Sportsperson of the Year – Governor’s Award for 2008.

Pacific Curling disappointment disrupts Olympic chances

Despite missing a berth in the 2009 World Championships, the Australian curling team still has the possibility of competing at the 2010 Vancouver Games, but their fate is now out of their hands. [more]
