| Chairlift named for Lassila as season kicks off |

| Olympic Winter Institute athletes and Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holders Lydia Lassila, Alex Pullin, Joh Shaw and Katya Crema helped kick off the 2010 ski season at Mt Buller over the weekend.
All four Vancouver Olympians were guests at the OWI’s Masquerade Cocktail Party on Sunday evening, a fundraiser for the Institute, and also took part in other events where they were happy to tell the story of their Olympic experiences and their plans for the future.

Gosper, son of International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Kevan Gosper, and President of Ski & Snowboard Australia, has been elected to the International Ski Federation (FIS) Council which controls skiing and snowboarding worldwide. [more] |

| Vancouver 2010 gold medallists Lydia Lassila and Torah Bright are the joint recipients of the Ski & Snowboard Australia Athlete of the Year award for 2010.
It was the second consecutive award for Lassila, who set a new Olympic record in claiming aerial skiing gold and also jumped to a world record score on her way to a World Cup victory in Deer Valley in the lead-up to the Games. [more] |

| Australia has a strong Olympic history in freestyle skiing and this medal success looks set to continue at the Vancouver Games. The Australian Olympic Committee confirmed the selection of the formidable freestyle skiing team today.
Led by defending moguls champion Dale Begg-Smith, aerials world record holder Lydia Lassila and former world record holder Jacqui Cooper this squad is the envy of most nations.
